Cat

Once upon an August, I met a cat during a late-night walk, and when I returned, this poem came pouring out of me. I hadn’t expected to write it, but it remains one of my favorites. What do you think?

~*~

Sinew-strength of willow-swiftness,
Whisper-steps of soundless silk.
Shadow-son of will-o’-wispness,
Drifting ninja, specter-sylph.

Gold-green eye-flash!
Sharp-white teeth-gnash!
Whip-quick tail-lash!

Gone.
