Greetings and welcome to my humble blog! Here I will write about literature, fairy tales, and mythology, though I may also touch on other related topics, such as language, philosophy, education, and even film. My articles may ponder deep questions, such as the origin of creativity, analyze a specific story or character, or simply share interesting mythological facts. Sometimes I may even share stories and poetry of my own. In short, I write about what I love: story-making.
My reader is no doubt wondering, “Why The Glass Hill?” An excellent question. But after all, what could represent my subject matter better? It plays an important role in many fairy tales. Often the hero must struggle against all odds to the top of a slippery hill of glass in order to reach the beautiful princess at the top. He must climb upwards in spite of fear, suffering, and temptation if he is to succeed in his quest. Without the aid of a little magic he could not succeed at all. The glass hill also foreshadows the Great Climb that we each must make if we are to succeed in our own quest for Truth.
At its best, storytelling helps us climb. Often we are inspired by something good, and the desire to create something good ourselves awakes. By creating in this spirit we can draw nearer to Him who created us and who gave us our creativity. This is why I love stories and storytelling.
I do not claim to be an expert in these matters, though I hope I am more than a mere enthusiast. Be that as it may, all of my information is carefully researched. All of my conclusions are based on credible evidence. All of my contemplations are the result of many thoughtful hours. And so I dare to hope that my readers will walk away from each article with a little more information, interest, and inspiration than they had before.
Come with me, as I strive to climb higher up and further in!
